I DO LIKE STRIPES AND POLKA DOTS…
Blue Haired girl with blue hair – ready to go out in a fluffy pink shawl
Blue Haired girl with blue hair – this is what she will do when she reaches her friends!
heading for the dance floor… 🙂
she only does this when no one is around
She’s rather good at it too…
Her hair is a needle felted with a soft wool mohair and her eyes are hand drawn with a fabric pen (heat set).
She’s made with linen mix cotton (50% of each), upcycled clothing (that skirt was mine but far too short for me to wear so I decided to use it instead of sitting in storage for years!) the skirt is lined and elasticated waist with stretchy striped sleeveless top (it has sparkles!)
The fluffy pink shawl has light purple polka dot buttons (it’s actually push stud fastener underneath).
The floral knickers are fixed but the other clothes can be removed but be warned – she’s not the ‘running around in public naked’ type of gal!
The armchair was a prop for a stop motion character that I made years ago (link)

Fab Candles at L’Arche Craft Workshop
The Candle making workshop at L’Arche in West Norwood was a great success – lots of people came and another workshop is being planned!
Some people asked if it was every weekend!
Here are some photos of the day – lots of lovely candles and a few ice candles were made too (the round ones with ‘holes’ in them which are beautiful) – the workshop was suppose to last a couple of hours but it went on all day – some people had to go back in order to finish the candles.
Another workshop will happen possibly the last week of November but we will post up information soon. (see below for L’Arche social media links and for Rock Paper Scissors & The Stitch who will be posting when it will be)

Szilvia makes a candle…
… and makes her mother proud 😀
Szilvia of ‘Fitness with Szilvia‘ and ‘Szilvia’s Pets‘ making her candle – a lot of people put colours in the wrong way around – the candle is made upside down – Szilvia’s colour scheme is based on a flame which is appropriate! – click the links to visit her facebook pages. (She has yet to decide on the name of her fitness business so the page is currently ‘Szilvia’s Fitness’ – I personally like the first version 😉
I’ve made two traditional cloth dolls that have arms that move and hair accessories that are wearable as they have a brooch fitting on the backs.
The dark haired girl is made with a linen mix – 50% Linen 50% cotton – for the body and the other is a soft cream Calico Cotton.
Their hair is Merino roving wool that is needle felted into hair buns.
Their clothing is 100% cotton with lace trim – the pantaloons are removable but the dress isn’t as it was my first go and I need to tweak my pattern – the next doll that I make will have a removal dress.
They are now at L’Arche in West Norwood, London and currently priced at £18.
I would like the next version to have small bags 🙂
Just finished a new character – this one doesn’t have a name though… ‘Big Nose Dude with Stripy Pants’ isn’t making him happy ,or me for that matter.
He has been listed in my RunnyCustardMakes Oddball Creatures Etsy shop and on my RunnyCustardMakes website.
My new creature ‘Iya’
‘Iya’ is a species monika rather than an individual name.
The Iya creature has been floating around my head for along time and is the imaginary friend of a stop motion puppet I made a few years back – the version in the stop motion (very short!) film didn’t look how I visualised it where as this version is a lot closer to my final idea – This version that is for sale is a prototype for the pattern that I’m making so I plan to make more but with several changes – this one should be the most unique and original version!
You can see my stop motion character: about Clara: The stop motion puppet who makes her own stop motion puppets at www.clarasanimatedworld.co.uk – there are two short films on the site as well as a gallery of images of how she was made.
This is a furry version of my ‘Cats in Pants’ – I’m so close to finishing the pattern – it’s annoying as it’s taking me ages to finish! gargh.
This is a furry mustache dude – he stands up if he uses his hands to balance 🙂
I made some posters of a few of the characters that can be downloaded and printed at home via my 2nd Ety shop (I’ve had several but it got too much to sort – now down to two!!)
Here’s the new Etsy shop…
my Photo Etsy shop can be seen in the sidebar of this blog – I’ve had wanted to start this new shop for ages but couldn’t decide if I had to make another website and blog just for making things but I really don’t want to just yet 🙂
Mini Needle Felted Kitten
I forgot to take more photos of this tiny needle felted kitten – it’s now living in Paris with my baby niece – I still have yet to finish the Cat doll and the kitten was suppose to be the Cat doll … er… doll. 🙂
I’ve been helping out at The Stitch group and I also made a few items for them to sell at The Feast in West Norwood as a fund raiser – I hope to offer them as digital downloads as well – all to help the community group keep going and fulfil it’s future plans – you can find out about The Stitch here
NEW MAKERS MARKET IN TULSE HILL
I will be selling some of my work at a new Makers Market at The Hub (formally the James Wilson Coffee Shop) in Tulse Hill – it’s in its early stages but hopefully if people come it can grow bigger – so far there are several Rock Paper Scissors London group members who sell at L’Arche in West Norwood and at the Cafe itself but there are also others who sell Skin Care items, heart food and children’s clothing so please pop along if you can 🙂
Rock Paper Scissors – The Open Works, Makerhood Lambeth and L’Arche Collaboration.
Some of the Rock Paper Scissors makers collective decided to take part in the local Feast Winter Lights Market which is St Luke’s in West Norwood – Feast are a huge market that feature makers, artist and food stalls over several sites in the area and had their final end of year Feast day last Sunday.
The Local MP, Dame Tessa Jowell opened the Winter Lights celebration with Father Christmas 🙂 and featured carols, mulled wine, hot food, kids activities and even L’Arche had their own dance troop!
you can view my other images here:
I featured my prints which you can find in L’Arche tomorrow and next week Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be the last day… I also sell at Diverse Gifts, Coldhabour Lane, Brixton but, I also made some toys… my current favourite are the ‘Cat’s in Pants’…
