Creating a ‘manual’ box repeat for homework.
mine didn’t come out well at all but I didn’t really try that hard – I made my ‘box’ too big and used tiny beads and other jewellery making paraphernalia and the paper base I was using came buckling – my beads kept rolling all over the place. After spending two days with flippin painful inner ear infection, my concentration isn’t too great.
I preferred the pictures of some round wooden beads …
… which I layered and played with in this image:
This came from four brass metal discs – you can see the hole for the chain 🙂
I rather like the disc pattern but not the background yellow part… hmmm… all in the name of experimentation!
I didn’t realise that Photoshop came with a pattern script other than a general box repeat (rather hit and miss and prefer Illustrator’s pattern creation) – this one was using the spiral setting.
These were created in Illustrator – using the original disc image in the above image for this one below…
I’m sure a texture could be created from this but it’s not quite working for me today… I’ll blame the ear infection ;-P rolls eyes
ok, fine here’s the actual manual box repeat… mobile phone picture which doesn’t help the quality and I didn’t measure it out before either.
I do want to try drawing out a repeat pattern but I haven’t decided what I want to draw yet.
urgh… why I traced around a 8×8 inch canvas board that happen to be sat on my desk, as the beads are too small.. or should have found some larger items. learn from each element though right?
couple more repeat patterns.
